I’m a busy bee today taking pictures and putting items on the website for tomorrow’s shop update! I know I’ve said this before, but this update is hands down one of my favorites that I’ve done! Zeus (my kiln) and I have been one mind and I am THRILLED with how these pieces turned out!

One thing I love about ceramics is the honesty tha

One thing I love about ceramics is the honesty that comes with working with clay. Each step of the process requires it’s own intentionality - from wedging to throwing to trimming to then, after the first bisque firing, to glazing and firing again. So much opportunity for things to go wrong- for any crack to reveal itself or imperfection to destroy the piece. It is the thoughtfulness of the journey, the attention to detail at each step, that brings so much satisfaction when you pull a completed piece out of the kiln. For all the ways that something could have gone wrong, it all went right and resulted in something usable and timeless.
Just a few reflections as I photograph and prepare each piece for this Friday’s update. Loving this journey- cracks and all.

It’s getting quite busy around here in the studio and I am so excited for what’s coming up! My first shop update of 2022 will be this Friday, April 1st, at 7 cst!
